This terrarium is our narrowest capsule, in a straight glass tube, with 13cm diameter – would fit perfectly to the office desk (or home office) or to the small apartment.
This terrarium due to its shape needs watering 1-2 times per month (unlike our other terrariums which might be happy with 3-4 times per year).
Inside of the terrarium is a minimalistic composition based on just single plants – a little bonsai tree, Ficus microcarpa ‘Ginseng’.
This bonsai needs to get a haircut done regularly, but don’t worry! You won’t meet any other bonsai more patience with your cutting skills. He is super easygoing and thriving with most conditions, are far as it is not in direct sunlight 🙂
The interesting fact: this species of tropical fig produce aerial roots once humidity is high enough (at least 80% of humidity). The process is really fast, so don’t be surprised as one day you notice tiny white roots emerging from branches or the trunk. They rapidly reach moss or soil and start to dig even deeper. After some time they turn brown and start to resemble Angkor Wat trees with twists and tassels of roots.
This terrarium will enjoy being close to you to get a bit more attention than the bigger terrariums. To understand why, at best, read this.
Hand made in Berlin, inside of recycled eco-glass which has a slightly greenish tint and tiny air bubbles within its structure. The capsule is closed with a cork lid.
Each capsule has its own name.
Important notes on pruning and pinching

At the beginning of spring. - Pinching:
When the branch has developed 6 to 8 leaves trim new shoots to two or three leaves leaving topmost leaves on the outside. - Wiring:
Not usual but if you do wire it, preferably at the beginning of spring.

Short care tips of terrarium/flaschengarten:
Water 1 to 2 times a month on average depending on the moisture level of the moss. (this terrarium due to its design need much more often watering)
Prune once a year.
Keep out of direct sunlight.
