Description

Hand-made tropical palm capsule/terrarium created in Berlin, with Dypsis Lutescens,  Alocasia baginda ´Silver Dragon‘ and Calathea Makoyana. As each capsule garden is a self-efficient ecosystem to green your place, whether is your home or office.

Plant compositions: Dypsis Lutescens,  Alocasia baginda ´Silver Dragon‘, Calathea Makoyana, moss, gravel, soil.

This terrarium belongs to the collection Gardens. In that collection inside of the terrarium, we will find the miniature tropical garden made of dwarf species of plants with very decorative and tiny foliage.

The tallest plant of that composition, Dypsis Lutescens, is native to Madagascar.  It is commonly named golden cane palm, areca palm, yellow palm or butterfly palm. It has long and narrow leaves in the most intensive green shade of green.

The middle part will be taken over by Alocasia. The species chosen for that terrarium is a ‘Silver Dragon’. It is a very beautiful, rare dwarf Alocasia, usually making on top of the plant-people wishlist.  She has beautiful broad-grained leaves, with dark green veins on the silver greyish-green.

The lowest plant it is our eye-catcher, full of violet shades, Calathea Makoyana. The decorative muster of Calathea has two faces, as she moves her leaves up and down during a day cycle – in the evening the leaves are folded together and in the morning they are unfolded again. It is known under two common names: Peacock Plant and Cathedral Windows, both making a good point. As many other members of the Marantaceae family belongs to the prayer-plants, also fold up at night, showing the purple underside of the leaves.

This tropical palm terrarium is created in Berlin, inside of the hand-made floristic glass. The capsule is closed with a cork lid.

Each capsule has its own name, meet Victoria.

Short care tips for terrariums/flaschengarten:

Water 2 to 3 times a year on average, depending on the moisture level inside of the terrarium.

Prune once a year – just a bit. The ivy and fern could need some cut.
