Plant compositions: Alocasia Stingray, Anthurium andreanum in black variety, moss, gravel, soil.
Inside of this terrarium, you will find plant compositions made of representant of two tropical species: Anthurium and Alocasia. The first one in variety with dark green nearly black with reddish undertones, and the second in characteristic lime green foliage. The composition is finished with moss and gravel.
Originally Anthurium hails from the rainforests of South America. It is known as a flamingo flower or, because of shapes of flower spathes, a painter’s palette. At the moment this Anthurium is not flowering, but if it blooms, then its flowers are in chocolate-brown colour, with slightly red hues and have a classic palette shape. Nevertheless, in the case of the composition of that terrarium, Anthurium was chosen for the colour of their leaves, not for flowers. It’s dark, elegant, outstanding.
The Alocasia Stingray originates from the tropics of South East Asia. It has very distinctive foliage with the uniquely shaped leaves pointing upward and outward, that resemble the wings and tail of its namesake, the marine animal Stingray. But, at this terrarium, the Alocasia was chosen not because of the shape of the leaves, but of their colour. It is a bright green which perfectly contrast the dark shades of Anthurium.
If you are looking for something a little different then this wonderful terrarium is right for you – the rarity of black variegation contrasted underline with flying around the light green of A. Stingray.
