Plant compositions: Asparagus setaceus ‘Plumosus’, Macgravia spec. Costa rica, Ficus and Ficus pumila ‘minima’, moss, gravel, soil.
Hand-made terrarium from Berlin, with Asparagus setaceus ‘Plumosus’, Macgravia spec. Costa rica, Ficus and Ficus pumila ‘minima’. As each capsule gardens is a self-efficient ecosystem to green your place, whether is your home or office.
The capsule belongs to the collection Forest/Minilandschaften. In that collection inside of the terrarium, we will find the miniature landscape made of driftwood with dwarf species of plants with very decorative and tiny foliage.
The dominant plant of that composition is Asparagus setaceus ‘Plumosus’ and it is native to Souther Africa. Known mostly as common asparagus fern, is named also a lace fern, which serve also as a perfect description of its foliage. Also the Latin description ‘setaceus‘, deriving from saeta “hair” or “bristle”, hence “hairy”, would be quite adequate. Despite its common name, the plant is not a true fern but has leaves that resemble one.
Much smaller, but actually, the two rare tropical species that in our zone are able to grow only in terrariums. The Macgravia with time will stick to the wooden wall, starting climbing really tight it.
This terrarium is hand made in Berlin, inside of the hand-made floristic glass. The capsule is closed with a cork lid.
Each capsule has its own name, meet Basyl.
Short care tips for terrariums/flaschengarten:
Water 2 to 3 times a year on average, depending on the moisture level inside of the terrarium.
Prune once a year – just a bit. The ivy and fern could need some cut.
